The Sunshine Store in Action

Several clients recently helped with the Sunshine Store and were able to find items they wanted or had been needing.

We have not had enough volunteers lately to keep up with sorting, so we borrowed some time from a therapeutic group to tackle the work together. What started as a practical need quickly became another opportunity for clients to participate, connect, and contribute.

Sorting items may seem like a small task, but these moments matter. Working alongside others builds rapport, creates opportunities to practice skills, and gives clients a chance to experience their own competence.

The Sunshine Store is not only about providing things people need. It can also become a place where clients discover that they have something valuable to contribute. Those small experiences of competence and connection can carry into other areas of life.
