A Different Kind of Relationship

"β€œGrow, heal, succeed, and when you can, pass that hope forward.”"

Sometimes the clearest picture of what makes this work different comes through ordinary conversations.

A donor recently noticed that one of our prayer requests this month was for a young person in Dallas rather than Austin. The response was simple and generous: no problem, he would still be in prayer.

That opened the door to explain something we often tell our homeless young adults: we are different.

This is not a place where someone stands in line, receives something, and leaves. It is a place to spend time, to be known, to talk about what is going right and what is going wrong, and to begin making plans for a better future.

That difference showed itself again recently when a client noticed how late in the day Terry arrived after already working for hours. He asked a simple question: How can I help?

The answer came just as simply: Get better. Grow, heal, get out there and succeed. And when you do, remember to pay it forward.

That exchange captures what we hope for every day. Not just immediate relief, but growth. Not just survival, but change that lasts and reaches someone else in time.
