Clients didn’t just make progress in July — they planned for more. With 89 goals achieved and another 84 set, we’re seeing real momentum as clients focus on self-care, employment, housing, education, and more.
Clients achieved 89 goals in July (2.9 per day) but also set an additional 84 goals to work on (another 2.8 per day). What are they working on? This can sometimes be a clue to what is needed or a reminder for what you could be working on, too!
- Number 1 on the list is improving self-care. It matters that you take care of yourself physically, mentally and emotionally. Homelessness and the people you meet on the streets can put a lot of stress on these. Eat better, listen to or remake music, read or write, play ball or exercise, take time to be in the quiet to clear your head.
- Number 2 is employment. As many people are looking for a job as have achieved or maintained a job this month: 17. We suggest changing attitudes about jobs: You don't "get" a job, but you "earn" it by your careful work selecting and applying at companies. And we have lots of SYMinU courses available to you from any phone or computer to explore employment skills.
- Housing is number 3 with 11 clients looking for housing. "Free" housing is a lot harder to find right now. But clients are able to find transitional housing still with careful dedication. More clients are looking toward the idea of working and finding "starter" housing like a rented room or a weekly motel. We agree that this maybe be the safer path at the moment with all types of funding up in the air.
- We have 5 clients setting sights on more education. Collect or trade school or certifications can open doors to better employment, higher pay, and more stability. It's the time of year to check into ACC! Grants are still available but watch out for predatory loans from private organizations.
- There are lots of other things in the graph. We're all different. One of the things we know at SYMin is that each of you is the best expert in your own life. We want to support you working toward the things you want. And we believe you can get them! Not everyone takes a traditional pathway, and that's just fine!
