After a record-breaking number of interns in 2022, SYM has had another successful year of its program. We had three interns join us in spring 2023 at our Austin location: Jessica, Ryan and Tina. Jessica has transitioned onto our team as a drop-in worker and has expanded her role to working with volunteers. We had another four interns join us at our Austin location in summer 2023: Shayla, Ian, Ellie and Sydney. We also had two interns join us in fall 2023 in Austin: Mandy and Izzy. Additionally, we had two different interns in San Marcos: Arden and Izzy. Our Salesforce intern is Usha. In addition to growth in numbers, our internship program has deepened in its richness. We are excited about the progress we have had in training our interns. Staff member Alan has developed a program based on text from “Street Culture 2.0” by J.T. Fest. Interns are being trained better than ever before at SYMin to understand street culture and how to support our clients.
